The Barefoot Project

Who: 
·         New mothers and pediatric patients
 
What: 
·         Congratulating new mothers and providing them with spiritual encouragement.
·         Providing handmade tote bags filled with goodies for their babies.
·         Providing the pediatric patients with a hand-painted tote bag filled with items to brighten their day.
·         Providing information about Gulf Shores Church of Christ service times and nursery assistance.
 
Where: 
·         South Baldwin Regional Medical Center (Foley, AL)
 
How:
·         Make tote bags for the new mothers (average cost $3 a bag)
·         Decorate tote bags for the pediatric patients
·         Collect items for the bags
·         Organize bags and deliver them to South Baldwin Hospital
 
When: 
·         Ongoing collection of items to stuff bags
·         Meet the first Tuesday of every month to make the bags
·         Stuff and deliver the bags on the last Tuesday of every month.
 
Items needed for the new mothers’ tote bags:
Travel size: baby lotion, shampoo, powder, body wash              
Baby nail clippers        
Baby wash clothes, burp clothes, mittens
Desitin (Walmart carries a kit)
Travel size baby wipes
Lip balm                                            
Small packs of diapers
Granola bars, fruit & yogurt snacks
 
Items needed for the pediatric patients bags:
Coloring books (for boys & girls)                  
Crayons
Small puzzle books                                       
Stickers
Small stuffed toys (no choke items)             
Granola bars, fruit & yogurt snacks
 
 
*** Any snacks must be packaged and include an expiration date
