As a youth minister I often get asked the question “If God is real, why does He allow these bad things to happen to me?” It is a question that at some point or another we have thought about even if for a second. The world teaches us that if we do right and be good people bad things will not happen to us. This simply is not true. God never promised us that this life would be easy. Paul who lived not just a good life but a Godly Life faced countless trials and persecutions. In 2 Corinthians 11:23-25 Paul tells about the things He has went through for the cause of Christ. Why did Paul endure all of these things, why did he go through so much? Paul knew who God was personally. He had seen exactly who God was. If Paul was able to handle the events that happened in his life and still seek after God, why do we complain when things don’t go our way? I was recently reminded by a good friend that it is a choice to be happy, just as it is a choice to follow after God. It is up to us to choice what we do. We can choose to focus on the negative of focus on the positive. Yes, there will be bad things that happen and we can focus on that. We also have some wonderful things that are happening in our lives. We have a roof over our heads, food in front of us, and clothes on our back. We are truly blessed! Paul made his choice to follow after God , will you make that same choice?
