Often times we have so many questions for God. Why is this happening? Why did you let my love one die? Why is everyone else happy and I’m not?  In John 1:38 Jesus asked the question that He continues to ask of us today “What are you looking for?” Jesus asked this question to two followers who were following him.  They had just heard John call Jesus the Lamb of God. They wanted to see Jesus; they believed John had spoken the truth about him. One simple question changed the lives of these two followers. We come to God with so many questions, and He answers them with a question of His own “What are you looking for?” We could become defensive and say that if He really was God then He would know that answer and wouldn’t have to ask that question. Or maybe we can take it for what I believe God indented for it to be, something to make us stop and think. Usually it helps us to verbalize our thoughts, it helps us hear what we are saying and thinking. Jesus knows the answer to His question, but He wants us to tell him so that we can know the answer as well. When we have things going on in our lives, and even when things are going exceptionally well it would do us good to stop and ask ourselves what are we looking for? Or answer might help us refocus on what God wants to be looking for.
In Him,
Jeremy
